It’s shaping up to be a “Watch the Ax Fall” kind of a week as more big name media personalities are getting fired over allegations of sexual misconduct.
 
On Tuesday, National Public Radio has parted ways with chief news editor David Sweeney who was accused of inappropriate sexual conduct by at least three females who are either currently at NPR or are former employees.
 
Then on Wednesday, Today Show host Matt Lauer, the biggest name on morning TV  got the ax for sexually inappropriate conduct with unnamed coworkers. That was followed later in the day by Garrison Keillor. He is the creator of the long-running NPR show A Prairie Home Companion and author of several books including the bestseller Lake Wobegon Days was fired by Minnesota Public Radio over allegations that he groped a number of females

The key here is that, unlike all other commodities, food is the one essential that cannot be postponed. If there were a shortage of, say, shoes, we could make do for months or even years. WASHINGTON — The FBI was flooded Friday with more than 200,000 background check requests for gun purchases, setting a new single day record, the bureau reported Saturday.
In all, the FBI fielded 203,086 requests on Black Friday, up from the previous single-day highs of 185,713 last year and 185,345 in 2015. The two previous records also were recorded on Black Friday.

From the BMJ Today,  evidence from over 200 studies and find that drinking three to four cups of coffee a day is associated with a lower risk of death and getting heart disease compared with drinking no coffee.
Coffee drinking is also associated with lower risk of some cancers, diabetes, liver disease and dementia. However, they say drinking coffee in pregnancy may be associated with harms, and may be linked to a very small increased risk of fracture in women. Story provided

Police in Massachusetts are warning drivers not to make their own license plates after one car was recently spotted with a homemade one.
On the Hopkinton Police Department's Facebook page, police posted a picture of a green Buick Century with a "fake" license plate they said was made from a pizza box and had the numbers drawn in
with magic markers.
