The Delta Aquarids Meteor Shower will peak this Week, but the Summer Night Sky Show is just getting starting.
Wednesday night through Thursday morning, the Delta Aquarids meteor shower will reach their peak. During this peak, you might be able to see as many as 20 meteors/shooting stars an hour. They will appear from the south and will continue on to a lesser degree until August 23.

This year, they will once again be overlapping with the Perseid meteor shower. The Perseids, the most popular meteor shower of the year, is fast approaching and will be peaking in just under a month.

This year, astronomers expect a fantastic outburst from the Perseid meteors! The prediction is anywhere from 150 to 200 meteors per hour seen on the peak night of August 11-12. With a waning gibbous moon scheduled for the predawn hours, we will be guaranteed some dark skies in the wee morning hours for the 2016 event. Although the meteor numbers increase after midnight, the Perseid meteors still start to fly at mid-to-late evening.I just hope the weather will co-operate. With the Perseids, radiating from the constellation Perseus, those meteors will appear from the northeast or north.
