Home invasion suspect shot while wearing police vest
INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – A family in southern Marion County got a startling surprise early Friday from a man who may have been trying to pass himself off as a police officer.
Investigators at IMPD Headquarters are still piecing together what happened as the suspect recovers from his gunshot wound.
Shortly after midnight, police say 34-year-old Carl Simion went to a home in the 9200 block of East McGregor Road on the south side of Indianapolis. While wearing a tactical vest with the word “POLICE” marked on it, he reportedly used a gun to confine the homeowner and several other people inside.
That’s when the homeowner pulled his own gun and shot the suspect.: WTHR

President Donald Trump revealed in a late Friday morning tweet storm that unless Mexico immediately and completely end all illegal immigration into the United States, he plans to close down the border, or large sections of the border, next week.
While Fox News’ morning show Fox & Friends warned of a “Mother of All Caravans” gathering in the coming days, illegal immigration appears to have risen back to the top of the list of issues the White House is eager to talk about.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who decried the decision after hearing about it during a police academy graduation ceremony, went on Good Morning America on Wednesday to demand more answers. More

We Have Spent $32 Million Per Hour on War Since 2001
This March marked the 16th anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
In 2003, President George W. Bush and his advisers based their case for war on the idea that Saddam Hussein, then dictator of Iraq, possessed weapons of mass destruction — weapons that have never been found. Nevertheless, all these years later, Bush’s “Global War on Terror” continues — in Iraq and in many other countries.
It’s a good time to reflect on what this war — the longest in U.S. history — has cost Americans and others around the world.

Pentagon authorizes up to $1B to start 57 miles of border wall construction
The Pentagon notified Congress late Monday that it authorized the transfer of up to $1 billion to erect 57 miles of "pedestrian fencing" along the U.S.-Mexico border in direct support of President Trump's national emergency declaration from last month.
The fencing, which will be 18 feet high, is to be erected in the Yuma and El Paso sectors, the statement read. The Pentagon's announcement was notable. A reporter from the New York Times tweeted that it is the first time the funds will be transferred under section 284 for the border wall.
