May I have another?

A study released last week by the Beer Institute showed that New Hampshire dropped to second in the nation in beer consumption per capita, after taking the top spot in 2011. While they didn’t rank first, New Hampshire beer drinkers were still pretty thirsty last year, drinking on average 43.9 gallons of beer. That’s actually up from 43 gallons the year before. By comparison, Massachusetts drinkers only consumed 26.2 gallons of beer in 2012. Now I have heard some say that the numbers for New Hampshire are inflated due to the fact that a lot of people are crossing the border from other states to purchase their brew at a discounted rate due to the low taxes and it’s very likely that it has driven up the state’s numbers. Now that is compared to the national average of just 28.2 gallons per person. I believe that because as the old saying goes, “Been there done that” So does that mean that a couple of our New England neighbors are in fact playing a lot more Beer Pong than the rest of the Flatlanders? The folks in Ct must be enjoying the famous Ct wine trail.

Vermont ranked 7th in the us with 35.3 gallons per resident consumed
Maine ranked 10th in the us with 34 gallons per resident consumed
Rhode Island ranked 39th in the US with 26.3 gallons per resident consumed
Massachusetts ranked 40th in the US with 26.2 gallons per resident consumed
Connecticut ranked 50th only 21.8 gallons were purchased per resident
