As a sky watcher who does enjoy stargazing, I will set the alarm to hopefully see the lunar eclipses that will happen in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. It should be starting at 2 a.m. and peak at 3 am, It should also be visible to most sky watchers in North America.
A lunar eclipse is when the moon passes through the Earth's shadow. Depending on the atmospheric conditions on Earth, the moons light may take on a range of colors from light coppery-red to almost total black.
On rare occasions, the light reaching the moon is exactly the color of blood, but there is no way of predicting this in advance. So, it cant be called a blood moon until it actually has shown its color.
