Helene and I got there about 2:15 in the afternoon. There were only a couple of people having lunch at that time. Priya is offering a lunch buffet for $9.99 which is quite reasonable, so we decided to start with the buffet, to find out how good the food really is. There was a nice selection of starters with chutneys, raitha and naan (soups, salads and sauces) and the staples such as tandoori and tikka chicken entrees. There is a good mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. Some of the foods at the buffet were a bit spicy but none were over the top. I’ve had some dinners in the past that caused me to make sure my water glass was always kept full. This was really a fabulous lunch buffet and every item was a different explosion of flavors for my taste buds.
The service was very good; the items on the buffet were attended to regularly, as was the water on our table. I asked the waiter how long the restaurant has been open and he stated that this is the third week. The waiter asked if we were going to try any of the desserts, but we passed on that. As a rule I never eat desert after lunch. I will have to come back for dinner and try a few other dishes and maybe a dessert. The regular dinner menu is huge and there are some entrees that I look forward to trying in the future.
We have also eaten at the other big name and original Indian Restaurant in West Springfield. The food there is very good but the prices are very steep. If you're in the Chicopee area during lunch hours, I highly recommend stopping at Priya especially if you have never had the chance to try Indian Foods. There is no better way to learn what it’s all about. This restaurant is owned by the same folks who operate the original Priya which is in Rocky Hill Ct. Their web site for this restaurant is not yet up and running at 100 % the address on Google maps that is on the web site is not correct, the correct address is
