What the New Year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the New Year.
Vern McLellan
It’s a New Year; the promise of a fresh start is once again on everyone’s mind. I am very thankful on how life has treated me and my family this last year. With the good memories still fresh in my mind, there were plenty of good times. I just hope that this coming New Year will be as good as last year.
Like many of us, there were also those days last year when I would look at what was happening all around the world. Things seemed to be getting worse every day. Racism, Intolerance, Religious Zealots and Crazies seem to be everywhere. Their voices and actions spread quickly, like the common cold. It was hard to avoid them. There were many times that I just wanted to scream out from the top of my lungs. “Do you live in the same civilized world as I do”?
I wonder, is there ever going to be an end to all this insanity? Can goodwill rise above the chaos and settle on the landscape like a fresh snowfall? Put everything in a different perspective. Well that’s probably the thought of a dreamer, because some people will never change. I do know changes are possible. One person can make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Hopefully, I can continue to contribute and make a meaningful impact in people’s lives as well. Since my eyes are now wide open, it has also become a lot easier for me to see. I wish to continue my exploration, of the many treasures of life. There has been a lot of enjoyment that I have seen while traveling down this road and who knows what’s around the next curve.
For everyone else, I wish you all a safe and happy New Year and don’t forget to wash your hands, so you don’t catch a cold.
