Maine Residents
Gov. Paul LePage has signed a financial order that grants Maine residents free day use of most state parks and historic sites. The program will be running through Labor Day. Maine State Parks and Historic Sites have experienced record-breaking attendance in recent years,” LePage said in a statement. “Our park staff have worked very hard to enhance the visitor experience with new offerings, year-round events and educational programs for all ages. Public support has never been higher. This is our way of saying thank you to the Maine people.” Day use is defined as 9 a.m. until closing, which is sunset at most locations. The fee holiday does not apply to overnight camping, which is offered at many parks. More information about Maine State Parks and Historic Sites are available online at:

The Berklee Sumer in the City Concerts Series Greater Boston Ma
This concert series, presents more than 200 free performances throughout the Greater Boston area from May through September. Bringing neighborhoods alive with free programs of pop, rock, jazz, Latin, and more, some of Berklee’s most promising young artists are poised to share the skills they hone on campus with the local community.
Jacobs Pillow Dance Inside/Out Performances Wednesday-Saturday Stockbridge Ma
The free performances happen every week from Wednesday through Saturday during the Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival. The shows are performed outside, with a beautiful backdrop of the Berkshire Hills in the summer. When the weather is threatening the performance will move to an indoor studio with very limited seating. This week will be the final performances for the 2018 Inside/Out Performance Series.
Fun Free Friday’s Friday Throughout Massachusetts
Each Friday; The Highland Street Foundation will sponsor free admission to Museums and other cultural and fun destinations throughout Massachusetts. This program is open again this year to all Ma. residents thanks to this very generous family foundation.
Waterfire Saturday Providence RI
This Saturday, there will be another Full lighting for the Waterfire Festival. As you walk along the paths in Waterfront Park, past the arched bridges and beautiful sculptures; your senses will be captivated by the flames, aromas of burning wood and music from around the world. There will be torch-lit vessels that travel down the river, street performers and live music. WaterFire has been enjoyed by of over ten million visitors since its flames were first lit in 1994.
Saint Anthony’s Feast Friday-Sunday Boston Ma
Begun in 1919, by Italian immigrants from the small town of Montefalcione in Avellino, Saint Anthony’s Feast has become the largest Italian Religious Festival in New England. Named the “Feast of all Feasts” by National Geographic Magazine, this authentic Italian street festival has it all for people of every age: parades, strolling singers, live entertainment, contests and religious services are held daily. Admission is free, and there are plenty of food venders offering the best Italian street foods from over 100 pushcarts.
Plainville Balloon Festival Friday-Sunday Plainville Ct
Once again, the skies over Connecticut will be filled with hot air balloons that will participate in the Hot Air Balloon Festival. This event welcomes visitors from all over New England and continues to focus on family entertainment and fun. There will be a Balloon Glow on Friday evening with Fireworks later on as well. A Car Show, Craft Fair and live Music are all part of the annual event. Admission is free with plenty of food venders available.
National Museum Day is next month on September 22nd. There are many museums all over the Northeast and over 1250 in the Country that participate in this program. The Smithsonian Museum will send you free tickets to visit the museum of your choice. To receive your free Museum Day ticket, enter your information into the request link provided here and send it to The Smithsonian Museum . Your Ticket will then be emailed back to you. You must print your ticket and present it at the facility you will be visiting to receive your free admission.
There are also many Cities and Towns that offer free weekly live music shows with a wide variety of different musical styles available.
