Every day, the first thing I do when I’m heading off to work is to turn on the radio and find out the score of the Red Sox game. Most of the time this year (and Last) I listen to the dreadful morning analyst on how they screwed up and lost another game.
It's been another long season in which just about everything that could have gone wrong, has gone wrong. From Big Heads falling over their own egos, to players that have re-written the old story line on how to play in a slump or just the internal fighting that has become a trademark of this franchise when things aren’t going well.
This year’s team has brought the fans back to those distant memories of the past and then exceeded it. The team was never out there playing for the love of the game, or for the fans. The reality of going from Champions to Chumps for this team last year has been underlined again by this year’s performance.
Today I am going to work like I do every day. I will most likely continue to hear more horror stories on how bad the team played the day before. But for the rest of this year I will not let it get me down.
Because now, the football fan side of me has been energized, it may only be pre season but the Patriots will start playing today. The fact that Tom Brady is now part of the Affleck-Garner drama while also dealing with Deflategate and preparing for the regular season is just a small part of life’s daily challenges.
Red Sox Baseball can now take its place this year as it should, as a distant memory.
