Pete Seeger, arguably one of the most important songwriters of American Folk Music as well as a strong vocal advocate for social causes, passed away Monday at the age of 94. He was the author of some classic folk songs such as, Turn Turn Turn, If I had a Hammer and was credited with popularizing the song, "We Shall Overcome"
When he saw injustice, he spoke out about it. He also suffered Censorship and Blacklisting early in his career because of his political views. Yes here was a time when you could not express opposing views from the mainstream even in the music industry.
