When Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany announced her "open doors" policy, the response was that a wave of refugees fleeing Syria, Afghanistan and North Africa came to the country.
Since then, The German government has struggled to contain the wave of violence that has rocked the country since the refugee crisis began. That policy has since been abandoned after it nearly toppled Merkel's government earlier this year.

Voters in Germany’s economically dominant southern state of Bavaria delivered a stunning rebuke to the ruling Christian Social Union, in an election that underscored the evaporation of support for the parties in Angela Merkel’s grand coalition in Berlin.
With all eyes on Sunday’s Bavaria election, the first exit polls showed a historic collapse for the ruling CSU party, which has ruled Bavaria continuously since 1957, and which saw its share of the vote collapse from 47.7% in the 2013 election to just 35.5%, losing its absolute majority and suffering its worst result since 1950, as voters defected in their droves to the Greens and the far-right Alternative for Germany.  MORE

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s incendiary suggestion last week that liberals “cannot be civil” with Republicans any longer is unproductive and simply “ridiculous,” a top Democratic senator said Wednesday.  Sen. Cherokee Nation issues statement on Sen. Elizabeth Warren's DNA test results
The Cherokee Nation issued a statement Monday on Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren's DNA test results. Sen. Warren released her DNA report in response to President Donald Trump taunting her for her saying she was part Native American. She claimed to be Native American to get hired by Harvard who was under pressure at the time due to a lack of diversity at the Law School. So she concocted a story about her great grandmother being Native American and checked the box.
She’s 1-1,024 per cent Native American .
