Shamrocks, leprechauns and most everything green will be the color seen in most towns and cities this weekend. The start of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade season is about to kick off in earnest. This occasion is truly unique. From bagpipes to step dancers, marching bands and floats, regional celebrities, area politicians, military units and civic groups will step out to the beat as millions will line the streets to enjoy the fun.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is very much part of the New England tradition. Typically it marks the first opportunity of the year for family and friends to get together and enjoy a day outdoors in the beginning of early spring. Parade Day is deeply embedded in our culture. “It’s just what you do for Parade Day.”
The Day marks a celebration where everyone is Irish. So put on a bit o’green and head out into the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day! For a listing of plenty o’ parades this month, you can find them here on the Eat, Drink and be Merry page ( Event Listing) of the Good Diggin web site.
