Well those politicians really screwed us again this week but good. One of the top free events that was scheduled for the year as far as attendance goes got cancelled due to government budget sequestration. The Air Force Thunderbirds were scheduled to perform at the Wings over Vermont Air show in Burlington Vt this weekend. It would have been the only appearance for The Thunderbirds in New England for 2013. The whole show has been cancelled because of politics and budgets. Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion will kick off their National Tour in support of their brand-new recording, "Wassaic Way," at the Creamery Co-op on August 6, at 11 a.m. The record is already showing up on radio playlists. If you can make it , go.

Waterfire      Providence RI    Saturday  evening after dusk

This will be the fourth full lighting this year for Waterfire. Over eighty bonfires will be lit along the river in downtown Providence. As you walk along the paths in Waterfront Park, past the arched bridges and beautiful sculptures; your senses will be captivated by the flames, aromas of burning wood and music from around the world. There will be torch-lit vessels that travel down the river, street performers and a live performance by the award winning music and dance group
Incason performing enchanting melodies on their Andean pan-flutes at Union Plaza.  WaterFire has been enjoyed by of over
ten million visitors since its flames were first lit in 1994 and is a "GD must see" for.  This event is free but donations are what keep it going. There will also be free concerts at the
Roger Williams National Memorial which is located at 282 North Main Street in Providence that evening. It is part of the Downtown Sundown Acoustic Music series. The performances start at 7 so there is a lot going on in Providence Saturday night.

Roots & Rhythm Festival   Saturday  1:00 PM - 5:00 PM   Portsmouth NH

Prescott Park is located on the bank of the Piscataqua River will hold another Music festival this week. The Roots and Rhythm festival will have concert performances from Elsa Cross, Matuto, Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole and New England native Heather Maloney. The styles of music style will range from folk, rockabilly, western guitar to a mix Cajun, Creole and Zydeco.   This event is free but a 5 dollar donation is suggested.

Bluegrass Pick-Nic   Sunday  Rehoboth Ma    11am till dusk

This will be the first annual RIBI Bluegrass jam. Located on the grounds of the Seekonk Rod and Gun Club. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy a day of Bluegrass Jamming and fun.  61 Reed Street Rehoboth Ma. 

Jacobs Pillow Dance Inside/Out Performances           Wednesday-Saturday in Stockbridge Ma

These are the free performances that happen every week from Wednesday through Saturday during the Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival. The shows are performed outside, with a beautiful backdrop of the Berkshire Hills in the summer. When the weather is threatening the performance will move to an indoor studio with very limited seating. Call the Box Office after 5pm the day of the performance to find out if it will be outdoors or indoors.

Theater Performance with the Nutshell Playhouse. A scrumptious mix of original music, puppets and clownerie, with special guests Taco Caramba (the fiercest pirate parrot ever to fly the seven seas), the Ductionary (the duck who knows every word in the English language) and the Snoof (the detective who can find anything, even if it isn’t there!) Enjoy your favorite Nutshell songs and characters.
