Each Wednesday, we try  to list some of the fun and free things that are available to do on a weekly basis with the posting of, “Fun Freebies in New England”.  With the long Holiday Weekend coming up, there's a bunch more stuff going on in addition to the cookout.

The Berklee Sumer in the City Concerts  Series                                           Greater Boston Ma

This concert series, presents more than 200 free performances throughout the Greater Boston area from May through September. Bringing neighborhoods alive with free programs of pop, rock, jazz, Latin, and more, some of Berklee’s most promising young artists are poised to share the skills they hone on campus with the local community.

On the third Thursday of each month ,Gallery Night offers free, carefully curated, guided bus tours to Providence Galleries, Museums and Art Spots from March to November.

         Third Thursday Street Festival                                                          Willimantic Ct


Every third Thursday, thousands of people from far and wide stroll along Main Street, Willimantic amid a background of musical, theatrical, visual, gastronomic, and olfactory delights. Seven stages simultaneously host a wide variety of music and entertainment while over 100 vendors showcase a variety of handcrafted goods and services. Willimantic's diversity really shines through in the delicious authentic international cuisine. Enjoy locally produced artwork, beer, music, and soda.     More


Thursday         Third Thursday Street Festival                                                             Pittsfield Ma

Every third Thursday the downtown district comes alive with live music and performances on multiple stages setup for the event, local food and craft vendors set up  booths, street performers are entertaining people and plenty of fun is to be had. If you want to experience a little more, businesses are open late for shopping, theater and there are plenty of dining options available as well.  More


Saturday             Waterfire                                                                                           Providence RI

This will be the first full lighting this year for Waterfire. Over eighty bonfires will be lit along the river in downtown Providence. As you walk along the paths in Waterfront Park, past the arched bridges and beautiful sculptures; your senses will be captivated by the flames, aromas of burning wood and music from around the world. There will be torch-lit vessels that travel down the river to light the bonfires. Also, there are numerous street performers and performances by Fire Dancers, The Gargoyles and the Phantom Boatman.  WaterFire has been enjoyed by of over ten million visitors since its flames were first lit in 1994.  This is a must see event for 2014, It is free but donations are what keep it going.


Saturday          
Riverfront Summer Pops Concert                                                  East Hartford Ct

Spend an evening on the Riverfront with the professional concert band, the Middletown Symphonic Band.  This event will celebrate Memorial Day and features wind, brass and percussion instruments. 


Sunday           
Blackstone Valley River Tour                                                          Central Falls, RI

On the fourth Sunday of each month, the Blackstone River cruise offer's, free cruises along the river. You may see swan, herons, geese, ducks, turtles, hawks and beautiful plants and trees! The tour guide explains the ecology of the river and surrounding wetlands along with stories about the people and history of the region.  Every time you go out on the river, you’re bound to see something cool !


Many museums  also offer free admission during specified days of the week. You may find them in the Good Diggin   Museum Listing of New England
