This is an ongoing crime of historic proportions for which almost no one has paid a price.

Venison, a/k/a deer meat, may or may not be the most popular game meat, but it is definitely the most abused. There are quite a few ways to cook venison. Some of the methods involve using dry heat, grilling, roasting, braising, and even stewing. Venison is a great protein choice for a variety of preparations. Leaner than other meat options and full of vitamins, it possesses a unique earthy flavor that pairs well with many herbs and spices, as well as heirloom produce. While venison is often described as tasting "gamey," that's merely its natural flavor. Since deer forage for their food, they consume berries, grass, acorns, and the like. Of course their flavor will be different than that of corn-fed cows! There are quite a few ways to cook venison. Some of the methods involve using dry heat, grilling, roasting, braising, and even stewing.

I can’t tell you how many people I have served venison to who have had to overcome some prior bad experience with it. “Ew, it’s so tough. It tastes like liver.” Yes, if you overcook it and handle the meat poorly when you kill the animal it will be poor fare at the table.
Another secret is to know when the meat comes from trophy hunters: They tend to kill big, testosterone-soaked bucks shot during the rut, which can be iffy as table fare. The only way to cook that meat so it comes out enjoyable is to go low and slow. Go for a young buck or better yet, a doe.
Marinating deer steak is highly recommended because there’s no fat on the venison. The lemon juice in marinade helps to tenderize the meat and add flavor. Olive oil in the marinade helps keep the venison steak moist. Nevertheless, any deer, elk, caribou, etc. can be made into great table fare, if you know what to do with it. Below are some of my favorite venison recipes, grouped by style of cooking or cut of meat.   More

News of Those Bad Boys and Their Poor Victim Selection Skills,

A suspected robber is now in the hospital after police say he hopped into the wrong car.
Police say a man was sitting in his car in a shopping center in Lawrence, Indiana when another man got in, showed a gun and demanded money. The victim informed the robber that he had none, so the robber instructed him to drive to a Chase Bank branch within the shopping center. The robbery victim grabbed the gun and they started fighting in the vehicle over that gun,” Lawrence police Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff said.
During the struggle, police say the car crashed into a nearby fence. Both men then exited the car. “Unbeknownst to the robbery suspect, the victim had his own firearm and so they engaged in an exchange of gunfire,” From Fox 59:

Ukiah California Police Department's Lt. Cedric Crook has confirmed that a man who was shot Subway Restaurant was allegedly attempting to rob the sandwich shop before he was shot.
The robbery suspect is reported to have been holding customers in the Subway at gunpoint, but Crook stated that the gun "might not be a working gun," and was potentially a toy or replica, but one that appeared real. A customer at the restaurant shot the robbery suspect at least twice, and three bullet casings were found at the scene.  Via The Mendocino Voice.

And Finally

I guess it’s time to wade into the controversy over the classic Christmas song “Baby It’s Cold Outside”. The song was first popularized in the 1949 movie Neptune's Daughter and performed by Esther Williams & Ricardo Montalbán. Since then it has been done by countless entertainers through the years and was never thought of anything other than a classic.
The last few years, radio stations across the nation have been terrorized by hate mobs wanting to ban the song from their playlists. The social justice extremists claim it promotes date rape. I find it strange that they have to go back 69 years to find a song that they now deem offensive. They must not have heard any rap or hip hop music that's been on the radio for the last 20 years.
While radio stations across the country are pulling the song from their playlists, here at Ramblings and Smiles....we don't succumb to the pressure of a mob. With that said, you can find a new version of that old winter classic here that should put a smile on a few of your faces.

The government shutdown is here. How does it affect you?

We The People Will Fund The Wall
A 37-year-old veteran who is a triple-amputee and a Purple Heart recipient has started a GoFundMe campaign that has raised over $14 million dollars in an effort to pay for President Trump’s proposed border wall.
Brian Kolfage, a Florida father-of-two who served in the United States Air Force, lost both legs and his right arm while serving in Iraq back in 2004.
Kolfage released the following statement while asking for donations,
Like a majority of those American citizens who voted to elect President Donald J Trump, we voted for him to Make America Great Again. President Trump’s main campaign promise was to BUILD THE WALL. And as he’s followed through on just about every promise so far, this wall project needs to be completed still.
As a veteran who has given so much, 3 limbs, I feel deeply invested to this nation to ensure future generations have everything we have today. Too many Americans have been murdered by illegal aliens and too many illegals are taking advantage of  the United States taxpayers with no means of ever contributing to our society.

I have grandparents who immigrated to America legally, they did it the correct way and it's time we uphold our laws, and get this wall BUILT!It’s up to Americans to help out and pitch in to get this project rolling.
“If the 63 million people who voted for Trump each pledge $80, we can build the wall.” That equates to roughly 5Billion Dollars, even if we get half, that's half the wall. We can do this.
