I'm off to the Big Shows being held  at the Eastern States Exposition Grounds this weekend. The Auto Parts Swap and Sell is taking place along with the Springfield Motorcycle Show. A great way to keep warm in this the cold weather. Stay Warm My Friends!

Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson etched their names into climbing lore on Wednesday by successfully completing a 19-day free-climb of the Dawn Wall on El Capitan.

The Pot has now gotten warm.  The Phantom Urinator has  been caught
on camera.

And I thought that I had put a few extra pounds on
during the Holidays.

A video of car dealership employees in Westport Ma getting into a heated argument with a local pizza delivery man over $7 has led to Internet anger and a personal apology.  The video, posted on Liveleak, begins with a delivery man returning $7 in cash to the dealership that he had thought was a tip. By the end of the video, one dealership worker threatens to “put my foot in your ass” and another says he will call the delivery man’s manager and get him fired.

From Yesterday, those people who are making a difference

Yesterday morning, having nothing else to occupy their precious time, 29 activists stopped the morning’s commute for people traveling into Boston.  Route 93 from both the North and the South were blocked at two different locations. The inconvenience caused a ten mile backup for traffic coming up from the south and affected tens of thousands of drivers.  The traffic backup coming down from the North was estimated at under five miles.

The protesters stopped traffic on I-93 northbound by chaining themselves to 1,200-pound barrels filled with concrete.  All travel lanes and the HOV lanes were closed after 7:00, and the whole protest wasn’t completely cleared until around 10:00 A.M. The protest prevented an untold number of people from getting to work on the busiest highway traveling into Boston, it also interfered with emergency vehicles and at least one ambulance transporting a patient with serious injuries en route to Boston City Hospital. It had to be diverted to a Brockton hospital.

The Boston contingent from the organization "Black Lives Matter" was responsible for the shutdown. In a press release issued by the group, they stated it was “to confront white complacency in the systemic oppression of black people in Boston.”

Based on multiple news organizations that have reported live while the protest was unfolding, it seems that these self righteous lost souls, who chained their arms together inside the barrel, have caused more harm than good to their cause as far as symphony goes.
A reporter on the scene stated that 95 percent of the traffic that was able to get by when the police removed the protesters from the interstate and onto the shoulder were shouting obscenities and giving them the finger. They seemed to be very outspoken with their displeasure because of the massive gridlock.

In 1984, cocaine trafficking in Maine was considered an urban problem. But in the sticks of the midcoast, a loose cartel of freewheeling, twenty-something drug dealers was building an empire — until one of the state’s most elaborate and far-reaching undercover operations brought it all crashing down.

Here they go again, Kicking Dodd-Frank in the Teeth...More

For the first time in more than two decades of Pew Research Center surveys, there is more support for gun rights than gun control.

It’s just another Manic Monday, the start of another work week. A lot of people had to get up and head off to work today in the snow. Right now the snow is falling pretty much everywhere and the weather today promises to be a healthy dose of crummy. The good news is, the weather last weekend was pretty nice and the Patriots won a real tough game on Saturday. The team will move on, to play again next weekend, in their quest to be the Super Bowl Champs. That makes any Monday much easier to deal with.

My Monday will be a bit of a bore today. I am lucky enough to have the day off and do not have to drive in this weather.  I do however have to get my paperwork ready and head off to the doctor’s office for my annual DOT physical. It’s one off the details that I have to get done every two years in order to drive the truck. I think after my trip is done and I finish shoveling snow, I will pull out the vise and continue quest on learning how to tie a few flies for fishing.

That is a good thing–especially after one particular visit last year to a very small stream, where I believe I made contact with every tree branch that was in the immediate area that I was fishing in. I left a bunch of flies in those branches and the fly box could use a few new backups.

Have a good one!

The first new antibiotic to be discovered in nearly 25 years has been hailed as a ‘paradigm shift’ in the fight against the growing resistance to drugs. It was discovered in a dirt pile located in Maine.

The Playoff’s are now underway; Superbowl Sunday is coming up at the end of the month. This video on eating chicken wings should get you ready to sit and chow with the best of them.

Why do so many people find clowns scary? Perhaps they suffer from
coulrophobia, the abnormal fear of clowns.

Some would say it’s about time. Once upon a time he was known as Dr Simon Campbell. Then he develops a blue pill and he becomes a Knight

White-tailed deer are the deadliest animals in North America. Every year an estimated 1.25 million deer-vehicle crashes result in about 150 human fatalities, more than 10,000 injuries, and insurance payouts approaching $4 billion. If  a deer crosses the road in front of you when your driving, hit the brakes or just hit it, but don’t swerve.

A Snowy Owl

I was very fortunate to see a snowy owl yesterday.  While driving down Performance Boulevard in Springfield Mass, I happened to look over at the Smith and Wesson building and there it was.  Perched and looking majestic in its surroundings, it was sitting on the edge of the roof.

It is always a rare treat to see one. Last year I traveled many miles, always hoping to get a nice picture of one. I never ended up taking, what I thought was a real good picture of a snowy during those many travels. It didn’t happen yesterday either.  I was able to get a few pictures of the owl but did not have my good camera with me.

Snowy Owls have a tendency of staying around the general area that they migrate too. That is providing the food supply remains adequate. I'm hopping to get back there soon before it moves on. If I'm lucky enough, the owl will still be in the area, and I will be able to take that elusive picture.
