Set up your schedule and get ready for the peak nights to watch this year's Perseids meteor shower, which will occur during the early morning hours of August 11, 12 and 13. The Perseid meteors have been streaking through the Earth’s atmosphere since mid-July. This year's show is predicted to peak on Aug. 12 according to an Earthsky.org.

There will also be a first quarter moon during that period. A 1st quarter moon will usually disappear from the night sky around midnight, so we will have dark skies from then until dawn. Weather permitting, this year there should be at least three of great nights of viewing the best meteor shower of the year.
